Bryan Clay in prime position for a gold medal

August 22, 2008

The word this morning out of Beijing is Trey has withdrawn from competition. It’s a pretty standard move in situations like this. Trey won’t be out of competition very long as he’ll bounce back in just three short weeks with a meet in France.

The word from Beijing is that Trey is in good spirits and is now turning all his energy towards cheering on his American teammate Bryan Clay on his march towards the gold medal.

A strong showing in the javelin (presently ongoing)  should give Bryan enough of a cushion where the 1500 is little more than a victory lap.

Go USA!

Hopefully more news in the morning

August 21, 2008

It’s tough to tell what went wrong during the pole vault.

Hopefully in the morning there will be some more news.

Shocking and disappointing development

August 21, 2008

It appears as if Trey registered three fouls on his opening height of 4.70. He receives no mark and no points.

As you can imagine Trey is probably feeling some intense emotions right now.

I know everyone who reads this site was rooting for him and I’m sure I speak for everyone when I say we’re really proud of what he has done. Trey has accomplished so much to this point in his career and a bright future lies ahead for him in the decathlon.

Pole vault is underway

August 21, 2008

It appears Trey has opted to pass on the earlier heights and will make his first attempt at 4.70.

The majority of the field will make its first attempt at 4.6.
